New post, new day.

This post is being uploaded with the Peek that i purchased today. Sadly, i won't be able to embed an image until later, but you get how i might be limited.

So far text entry really isn't that bad, the QWERTY keypad really is well made. So far the service is good (you get a free 40 hours, so thats good). It will probably lay dormant until I find a good reason to activate it again (kinda useless for me right now, and I'm waiting on the update).

I'll embed some images and maybe some more thoughts on the Peek at a later time.

iPhone Nano: A vision.

This is just crazy, pure speculation talk, based on my limited knowledge of the technology world as of right now. This isn't based on any fact, just possible earlier speculation that has built and built.

OK, here it goes.

Why doesn't Apple just destroy the cell phone market with an iPhone nano? Imagine it, a 150$ or so iPhone, smaller form factor (not too much smaller, or the screen resolution will drop, and it won't be compatible / screw up touch tech), and the potential to have either a data plan, or, the holy grail, a regular phone plan.

Personally, I would love the internet wherever I go, but right now, if I could get a device that synced with iTunes, iCal, surfed wifi, and made phone calls, I would buy it in a heart beat. There are a lot of people who can't (or won't) buy a data plan at this time. That sounds like one of the most perfect devices, and, if they can even make it a little thinner, that would be awesome.

I'm not expecting anything groundbreaking sans that, like external storage, removable battery, anything crazy like that that Apple will never do, just a slightly smaller iPhone, with regular plan options. Oh, and I forgot the greatest part of my vision:

iPhone nano on all carriers. The iPhone as far as I know is locked to AT&T for at least a few years to come, but the iPhone nano? Completely free, potentially. It could reach success beyond what the Razr ever achieved, skyrocketing new iTunes sales, and making Apple the potential leader in the phone market with just 2 phones. It only took 2 iPod mp3 players in the past to dominate, why not here? Do we also not remember how much better the nano, and before it, the mini sold versus the larger models? I say no more.

I'll be looking.

BUZZ ON: MSTRKRFT, FIST OF GOD TOUR, CHARLOTTE NC THE FORUM

This was a crazy, crazy show. Partially crazy because it was my first real concert that I went to. Partially crazy because my girlfriend and I ended up 3 and a half hours early for MSTRKRFT, though, LA Riots was pretty darn good.

It was so loud. I cannot believe how loud it really was. Jesse and Al P were way energetic, moving around, bobbing heads up and down, interacting with the crowd, so that was fun. Jesse F Keeler also smokes like a fucking freight train, I think he smoked a pack in an hour and a half. The video's they used for their set were kinda semi unrelated to a lot of the music that was going down, but, I guess that's not the point of the show.

The music altogether was good, a nice amount of song dropping that I knew at the end, but the beginning and a bit of the middle was very unfamiliar to me, and from what I heard, is mostly some of their new stuff. I couldn't really tell it was new MSTRKRFT stuff, but I'm hoping I just wasn't listening close enough or that the whole show was mixed heavily. They even came out for a bit of a encore as well, it was a good one too. Very stealthy. There was also a guy there with a mask on. He was cool as well.

Overall, it was a good show, and I was danced out at the end. Keep it up guys.

BUZZ ON: Electroma by Daft Punk

My love for Daft Punk is quite extreme, some might say. They are, at any given day, at a tie for my Favorite band of all time. It's between them and Death From Above 1979. They are both two of my best examples for what I believe is music at it's finest. Today we focus on Daft Punk, and not their music, but their movie making skills.

Electroma is first of all, very mellow, and, not made with any of their music. If you go into this thinking that you gonna see a cool robot movie with Daft Punk music everywhere, stop now and reevaluate your decision. The soundtrack is really good, but, not any of their music (they may have made some background music, but it's new, and mostly ambient). So, now that that is out of the way, here's what you should expect: two robots on a quest to be human, and a lot of pretty visuals.

I would say that most, if not all of the movie, is about being a moving work of art. All of the scenes are seemingly carefully directed, there is no speech from any of the characters, only some of the music has singing in it, and that is the only words you will ever hear in this movie. This also slightly disappointed me because I love vocoder and vocoder voices, which I was hoping they would do, but, it's an artsy film, what can I expect?

There is a lot of emotion for this faceless, expressionless, non-talking robots. Especially towards the end, of this not so long movie. It's only 73 minutes, and some people say it could have been done in 40, I say 60. There was some things that could have been edited out, some walking that I don't think I needed to see, but, it wasn't too tedious, like our one favorite movie Gerry, with a 25 minute boring as shit walking scene, there is nothing like that. They are interesting to view at least.

The end, which I won't spoil at all, is really amazing. Just a visual and emotional powerhouse. You really just need to see it. The whole movie also looked amazing on my iPod touch.

Overall, it's not the most exciting movie your going to see, but it's a very mellow, enjoyable journey, especially for robot lovers like me. Give it a try, I dunno if you will like spending anywhere over 10$ to see it like me, but I felt like it was worth it.

BUZZ ON: iPod touch 2G

So, Last week these were announced, and no store had it by Wednesday and I knew I would hyperventilate and die if I didn't just go ahead and order one with one day shipping. So I did.

First up, whats different? Well, there is now a chrome finish all around the edges, making it more iPhone like. There is now a speaker in the device, but it isn't all that awesome. The most I see this getting used for is showing someone a video or letting them listen to a song, without having them to use your earbuds (gross). Also, there is a physical volume clicker on the side, meaning you don't have to wake it up every time you want to change volume, or you can change volume easier in apps (i think there is a software way to do it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't available until recent, if it even is).

So, as a child, my dad liked Palm Pilots and PDA's. He had this vision for portable computers, and that landed upon his son. He had a few, but they never really did exactly what he wanted to do. He is really into GNU and the belief that most all software should be free (but not too much into piracy!). So, he was always kinda disappointed by PDA's, there was always a trade-off, and up until recently, they didn't have much in the way of surfing the internet. I'm pretty sure the Touch is exactly what he was looking for at the time, but such a device did not yet exist. Until about a year ago.

He loves his touch from what I can tell, and the inclusion of Apps is something he is extremely into. Internet just about where ever, all that jazz. Well, kooky enough, I love the thing too. It's exactly what I imagined PDA's should be like as a kid. I just can't believe it. I've never used a calendar program in my life, and now I use one everyday. It's the same thing pretty much as iCal, but, I never use iCal on the mac. Battery life is awesome, beautiful screen that is majorly scratch resistant, internet, my email, aim, it's just amazing.

So far there are no flaws that I can tell, it's still in impeccable, and yes, compared to the 1g, it does feel smaller. I'm in love with the thing.

BUZZ ON: Naked Strawberry Banana Smoothie

So, this thing costs like, a few cents shy of 4$. I was expecting something pretty darn tasty for that amount, even though I used my school silly bucks. Anyways, even though they use a pound of fruit to make this shit, it's absolutely terrible.

The taste is kinda bland actually, it feels a bit like a smoothie, but not in any good way. There is a kind of pulp to it, which is normal with orange juice, not so much with Strawberry Banana. It at least felt kind of healthy to drink, but, it left a bit of a (not so good) aftertaste in my mouth. I didn't really like it much at all.

Buyer beware. This looked like their tastiest offering too, so, try the others with caution!

BUZZ ON: Chromeo's Fancy Footwork FANCIER EDITION

I have known of Chromeo since 2005 or so, mostly do to their extremely catchy "Needy Girl' single, which was amazing for me at the time (and the video with the all white guy? Amazing!). Since then, I had almost nothing to do with the guys. I forgot all about them until last year or so, I heard this amazing MSTRKRFT remix of Tenderoni, and I started looking into them every once in a while again. Well, I finally decided to buy their CD, and it was a wise decision (especially for value).

This new edition of Fancy Footwork includes a bonus CD of remixes and 4 songs from their old album (some better than others, but few duds for me), as well as the original album, plus 5 video's on the first CD as well, rounding out the package.

So far, most of the music is really good. I've heard a bit of it, so I knew what I was in for, so, we'll start off with the original release, Fancy Footwork. The intro is something special, slightly self-masturbatory on their part, but it's their show.

Tenderoni is a pretty good track, though, after hearing the remix's of this song, I feel like the remix's are superior (mostly MSTRKRFTS). Fancy Footwork and Bonafied Lovin' both also fall victim to this predicament, but I still enjoy these versions too.

The craziest track would have to me "Momma's Boy", which is about a man who looks for his mother in the woman of his dreams. I've yet to meet someone who heard the song who didn't crack a smile. I like to think "Outta Sight" exhibits some of that fun that "Momma's Boy" has as well.

I think my actual favorite song on this album is "Call Me Up". It captures a lot about the group, personally, and the chorus is just so catchy. P-Thugg in the background is awesome, 'yeah-yeah'ing up to those high notes, and Dave 1 is at his best with his singing and lyrics, personally.

Now that the original has been discussed, let me talk about the remixes and 4 songs from previous albums. They are outstanding. You have the original "Needy Girl" (still super catchy), and another song I never heard before called "I Am Somebody", which was just treat. I suggest watching the video for it as well, which was on the first CD of the set. The song is put together extremely well, and the guy in the background just repeating "Sumbottay, Sumbottay", of it's just good. A lot of elements just pull this track together. "Rage" is ok, but "You're So Gangsta" is relatively weak to me. Trying too hard in my opinion.

The remix's are some of the crown jewels in this package. Mstrkrft's "Tenderoni" mix is the shit, so is the Crookers "Fancy Footwork" remix, and the Lifelike "Needy Girl" remix. The "You're So Gangsta" remix didn't do much for me (source material most likely), so, your afraid that disappointment will ensue at the end of the CD. But oh no, it's time to shine. The "Bonafied Lovin" Jori Hulkkonen Remix is almost worth the price of admission alone. This remix just takes the song and does something to it that just seems so natural, mellows it out, really makes it seem like he's talking to a girl and trying to win her over in a movie or something, and it's working. The pause near the middle of almost all other sound but the word 'Look' is almost chilling every time I hear it. The best song across both CD's in my opinion.

That's the review though, and just as long as you get passed some of the remix's surpassing the orignals, and just don't listen to "You're So Gansta", you're in for a amazing musical experience.

BUZZ ON: Pure Suger Cane Juice.

I know what your thinking. "Where could you go wrong? It should taste like sugar water or something.". You would be wrong.

This juice was so thick. Thicker than I would have thought. It was sweet though, a bit too sweet. The flavor as well was just entirely too awkward. It was slightly vanilla-ish, but not enough, and had something else in there I can't personally describe.

Stay away, unless you need a can to beat someone to death with, as the cans are probably 2-3 times thicker than usual. I tried crushing it and I felt like Mr. Burns when he tried to crush that little paper cup to no avail. The can made me feel weak.

BUZZ ON: The Jitter Bug in the Wild!

I couldn't believe my own eyes when I caught a glimpse of this beauty in real life. I had always been enthralled by the ads for the Jitter Bug, but this was my first time messing with one. It was entertaining, to say the least.

Look in your local Best Buy today!

BUZZ ON: Crappy cardboard boxxes.

Do you have a copy of Wii Sports that keeps getting new scratches every time you put it into the case to play another game? Then make a case yourself! It's not that difficult. Heck, you probably thought about it. Here's the encouragement to make your own case.

WHAT YOU NEED:

-A Wii game case (either order online, or try to find a place that sells game cases [yes there are places]. be warned, ordering through Nintendo is a 5$ flat fee for shipping, so, if you do it that way, pick up some other stuff you want too!)

-Printer to print off case design

-Design (search the Internet or, make your own!)

It's pretty easy. The hardest part is the cutting. Just get the case, print out a design (print it nicely, if you can on some glossy but not thick paper), either of your own creation or from the net. It wouldn't be hard to do either, but finding one is the easier of the two. After that point, the cutting comes in. Cut nice! Don't just hack at it. For me, I had to print it twice, because my printer couldn't print the image off on one page (even though there was room). Just line up where the one leaves off and you should be good. You also want to experiment most likely with reducing the size of the print, most of mine printed too big, so I had to do some editing.

Then just put it in the slips and voila! You have another case and you can get rid of that cardboard. Mine looks like any old Wii game:

And there you go!
